I am Kyu! I have resolved that I will make a flash before my 100th review, and hopefully it will be a decent one. Progress to be posted soon. Eventually. For now I'll be happy to watch or help with voices or story 'consulting', ha ha. See you someday.

What Rises to the Top?

Posted by Kyusaku Aug. 19, 2008 @ 2:28 PM EDT

Time to risk sounding like a total prude, for something that I need to say.

So, a submission which featured a lot of still drawings of obese anime females made it to the front page of NG.

Right, right. Theres plenty of killgames, gore sprees, and fests of sex and nudity, and lots of beautiful, twisted, dark humor of varying degrees. Lots of stuff like that, but the truly frontpage worthy ones are done cleverly - not just a mash of fart and fat jokes strung together just for cheap lulz.

More power to the authors for posting what they like. Theres fans for this sorta thing, and I'm not going to lobby for denying anything.

Yet, this shouldn't be on the front page. If the adult section had a front page, whoever in charge of selecting the top submissions should place it there, but not on the main site.

Tom Fulp is progressing masterfully, doing what a lot of us would wish to do, releasing professional games that are good enough to get money for.

Not long ago, he's asked to step up our game, and offer a $10,000 reward for an Oscar winning flash. Yeah, go ahead and laugh. I think it's possible. A long movie with the storyline quality of The Composer, or Enemy in the Snow could get close, if not gather up a huge fanbase..

Then this kind of stuff gets promoted in the middle of the front page, and I start to wonder which direction he is trying to take things. Maybe the ten grand promise was kind of a joke?

You're one of the greatest, Tom - but say it ain't so.

Oh, right. Yeah. I see some backlash coming.
