I am Kyu! I have resolved that I will make a flash before my 100th review, and hopefully it will be a decent one. Progress to be posted soon. Eventually. For now I'll be happy to watch or help with voices or story 'consulting', ha ha. See you someday.

The Future is Today, More Problems Tomorrow?

Posted by Kyusaku May. 15, 2008 @ 6:56 PM EDT

It sure is.

Just yesterday, I was picking up my copy of Flash MX, with hopes and dreams that I would do something. Yet, close to five years later - I prove to be a worthless bum and unable to do anything.

Then I realize that its not MACROMEDIA anymore, now it's ADOBE flash, and this site called youTube has gotten a hold of Neil Cicierega. Tom is already almost 30 years old, no longer the plucky kid that proved that you needed a billion dollars to start something special (that isn't a horrible mashup like mySpace, the ugliest site in the world), yet NG constantly gets passed over by our idiot media, year by year. Of which I hope will one day crumble in the rise of the net. Condescending phrases like 'even on the internet', will disappear - and those dumb eyed, slow speaking anchorpeople will finally treat this meduim with respect, that is - if TV isn't phased out in the future.

The sad truth that it's almost 2010. That science fiction year where the 90's and early 00's will be long dead, and everyone who remembers a world without internet will be creeping closer and closer to that inevitable delayed adulthood. Most of us will shuffle towards jobs that don't care if we live or die.

Tom Fulp will be over 30 if he likes it or not, and we will all realize that the passage of time is a slow and horrible thing, at least for those who haven't found that out already.

Maybe by then I'll have a flash, in just a tiny bit of time after Wade Fulp presents his next glorious flash submission, and I'll have more to show than the occasional blurt that comes out after I go friggin mad.

Keep Tankmen 2 on the top of the charts, kids. It's a good flash - it represents us well.

The Face of the Top 50

Posted by Kyusaku Feb. 25, 2008 @ 12:33 PM EST

One of the cool things about NG now is everything that it tracks for us. Our points, favorites, userpages, the Daily and Weekly Winners from yesteryear, and so forth. It's a smorgasboard of information which pushes this site that much further from all others on the internet.

What could be added? That would make it even better or give us a better look at what was hot back when. The Top 50 itself could use some more attention. Unless I'm being really stupid and missed it somewhere, there is no stat that tracks how long a submission is up on #1, or within the top fifty. There should be a jewel mark for it as well, such as the ones for surpassing a certain number of pageveiws.

It should be based on time spent in a certain tier, though.

Garh, running out of time, can't work out the specifics now. But I believe submissions that reach the top 100, 50, 25, 10, 5, and #1 should get recognition. They might not be daily winners, or weekly winners, so they have no other recording mark to show off for it. I think it would be a good idea.

As for the Top 50 in the past, I remember when Xaio Xaio three was there. I'd like to see a screen of what the list was back then, because I can scarcely remember it now.

Maybe I should start taking screens every few months of the Fifty, and see how that face changes and shifts. If someone had done it before, it would have given a really good look at the history of the portal. Okay, I think I'm done on that front.

What I still need to do:

- Practice Flash
- Make New Userpage Images
- Look for Collabs to Submit In
- Start Submitting in Collabs
- Start Work on Fan Beebo Episode

The Plan To Get Out of Hell

Posted by Kyusaku Feb. 4, 2008 @ 12:31 PM EST

That unhappy place of people who want to make flash and never got around to it.

As I've promised, I'm going to make some kind of flash submission before I hit my 100th review, so I'm not just a guy who does nothing but comment on stuff and never practices the preachings.

I've been around NG a long time, seen a lot of videos, so I at least should have some vague feel at what - in terms of quality, content, etc - would make at least a decent flash. Way too many flashes come onto NG that aren't worth the valuable resources that this site probably spares to host them.

I'm not asking for a masterpiece, but something that is at least pleasing to view, and not a total waste of time. I want to make something that will actually add to the site, at least a little. Yet, I have a long way to go.

List!

- Reorganize All Favorites - (Done)
- Make a Forum Signature (Done - will need to change later, though.)
- Sign up for Beebo Fanclub (Done - Thanks Fabulous999)
- Think About Updating Flash Software (Done)
- Start Practicing Flash Again (Almost Underway)
- Submit to a Collab By the End of March

Slide Beebo, Slide!

Posted by Kyusaku Oct. 13, 2007 @ 11:56 PM EDT

So. If anyone stumbles onto this, go over to fabulous999's userpage (click on African Detroit Cop under my favorites, and you should find it from there), and egg him on to make more Beebo!

It is a really deserving series. Also check out his other stuff, including the submission he put in this year. Its really awesome. One expensive sandwich too!

The Ambitions of the Eternal Procrastinator

Posted by Kyusaku Jul. 19, 2007 @ 2:38 AM EDT

Right. Whoo. Wow. What a great site redesign. I get a page and everything. Even all of the old content looks so much better. I'm tempted to go through my old favorites just one more time. Heh. Its really inspiring and all. I might actually do something. I've always wanted to submit a flash.

Okay, if you're looking at this, this must mean I must have bugged you into coming here, or that you are really, really bored. Either way, I'd like to let you know that I do intend to make something someday.

I am armed with an old copy of Flash MX, rudimentary drawing skills, and I can also write a little!

I also got a voice which I cannot seem to manage to make sound like anything else but me.

Great chances, huh? For now I'll just revel in the site redesign, watch Wizard Power again, and wonder where things like Beebo and Neil Cicierga's will to make Animutations went.
